We are looking to appoint a Bid Manager here at our Support Centre in Macclesfield.  

Metro Rod work with the likes of Tesco, Marks and Spencer, Mitie, Clarion, Axa, Wetherspoons and many more in the FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors. Despite having been around for over 40 years, we are a fast-growing and dynamic business and part of an ever-expanding group Franchise Brands.

Founded in 1983, Metro Rod and its sister company Metro Plumb are leading providers of drain clearance and maintenance services delivered on a largely reactive basis. The services are provided by over 60 franchisees with geographical coverage across the UK. We’ve been clearing and unblocking drains for more than forty years and we’re proud of our reputation for quality service and customer satisfaction.

Within the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands, is also Willow Pumps and Filta. Two expanding businesses that focus on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. Together, the brands provide a complete one-stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.

What does the Job entail?

The successful candidate will oversee and coordinate the end-to-end bidding process to secure new business and contract renewals, or positions on strategic frameworks. Ensuring all bid submissions are completed on schedule, within budget, and meeting the highest quality standards.

This person will produce compelling, compliant, and high-scoring responses aligned with client requirements. Supporting the Head of Bids – Projects in positioning the company as the preferred provider of choice. Working closely and coordinating bids with relevant Franchises to ensure full transparency and work scope before submissions. 

This role has a responsibility of managing a team of 2 – a Bid Coordinator and an Associate Bid Writer who are responsible for co-ordinating the department’s workload and pipelines.

What are we looking for?

• Demonstrated experience as a Bid Manager within the Drainage/Plumbing/Pump sector with a proven ability to secure new business, renewals, and framework positions through high-quality bids and proposals.
• Strong process management capabilities, including the development and execution of comprehensive bid and oversight of the full bid lifecycle.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively brief Bid Writers and collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather input and shape compelling bid strategies.
• Attention to detail with expertise in writing, editing, and proof reading to produce error-free, high-quality documentation.
• Thorough understanding of the bidding process including the ability to analyse ITT/specification documents and allocate resources to produce compliant, competitive, and high-scoring submissions.
• Collaborates effectively with commercial and franchise teams to create competitive and commercially sound pricing strategies that support Metro Rod and Metro Plumb's strategic objectives.
• Committed to continuous improvement through ongoing training & development of yourself and team, along with adoption of innovative tools and practices.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Acrobat Pro; experience with AI software is advantageous but not essential.
• Documented Bids onto CRM system with management through stages.
